As a civil rights attorney and community activist, Dick Eiden has dedicated his whole life to protecting people’s rights. Today, our rights need defending more than ever.
Corrupt politics and bipartisan gridlock have effectively hijacked our democracy and sold it to the highest bidder. Our representatives behave as if corporations elected them rather than the people. And in many cases they did.
Eiden promises to work for the 99%, those who have no lobbyist to represent their interests in Washington.
As an Independent Progressive Congressman, Eiden will not be bound by partisan politics and he will sponsor legislation to:
- Effect true campaign finance reform – and work tirelessly to bring an amendment to the Constitution to reverse the Supreme Court Citizens United ruling that allows unlimited corporate money in politics
- Redirect the billions our military spends overseas in senseless wars to healthcare, training and jobs for our returning soldiers and support for their families
- Put Americans back to work by
- rebuilding our infrastructure
- creating new jobs in the green economy
- improving education
- Reduce the national deficit and ensure universal access to healthcare with a single-payer health system that focuses on prevention and evidence-based medicine
- Create comprehensive immigration reform
- Ratify the Equal Rights Amendment once and for all

Dick Eiden opposes attacking Iran and getting involved in another tragic war. Dick supports full, unhindered health and reproductive rights for women; legalizing, taxing, and regulating marijuana; freedom of the internet; comprehensive immigration reform; and separation of church and state.
Our leaders have no plans for peace, no Department of Peace. Dick Eiden will insist that government begin planning for peace, prosperity and justice for all. End war, rebuild America!
