Information About Brandon Bushnell
Brandon Bushnell is a lifelong Roanoke Valley resident, having lived in Salem, Vinton, Roanoke County, and finally settling in the Wasena neighborhood of Roanoke. He is a Salem High School graduate, attended Virginia Western Community College, and is now in the final semesters of obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science online through the University of Maine at Augusta.
A lifelong lover of reading and research has led him to pursue his career path as a librarian. He previously worked in the Roanoke Valley Library System for four years, was the Head of Circulation at the Carilion Health Science Library System, and is now the Librarian at Miller-Motte Technical College in Roanoke.
Brandon’s faith has always been a high priority. He spent many weekends in the Morningside neighborhood of Southeast Roanoke attending Roanoke First Church of the Nazarene with his family. During that time, he was able to see for himself the difficulties the residents of Southeast Roanoke were up against. He currently attends the Unitarian Universalist Church with his partner Ember Fulson where he served on the governing Board of Directors and now co-teaches one of the church’s Religious Education programs.
Brandon is the son of small business owners and has grown up in a family that faces the challenges of having to compete with large corporations. He believes that all small businesses here in the Roanoke Valley should be able to stay competitive and most importantly, be given priority in the city’s economic development plans.
